The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI) provides public access to information held by Public Authorities. The Act therefore covers recorded information that is held by a Mellis Parish Council. Recorded information includes printed documents, computer files, letters, emails, photographs, and sound or video recordings. Many of the documents covered by the Act are now published on this website under the requirements of the Transparency Code for Smaller Authorities. Any request for information that includes the name and full contact details of the member of the public requesting the information and contains details of the information required, is deemed to be a valid request under the Act. Requests for information should be made to the Parish Clerk in writing, emails are acceptable. Once a request has been received the Council has 20 working days in which to respond. Please note that in some cases a charge may be applied for the supply of printed copies. The Act does not give people access to their own personal data (information about themselves) that may be held by Mellis Parish Council. If a member of the public wants to see personal information that is held by a Public Authority they should make a subject access request under the Data Protection Act 1998. Mellis Parish Council is registered as a Data Controller under the Data Protection Act 1998. |
